On December 28, three of HKC's displays won the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area carbon footprint identification certificate issued by the Shenzhen Institute of Metrology Quality Testing, and it was also the first company to win the carbon footprint identification certification. This award once again highlights HKC's outstanding performance in sustainable development, helping to achieve the goal of carbon peak and carbon neutrality in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
What is a carbon footprint?
Carbon footprint refers to the collection of greenhouse gas emissions caused by enterprises, activities, products or individuals through transportation, food production and consumption, and various production processes. Carbon footprint certification can further understand the proportion of greenhouse gas emissions in the whole life cycle of the industry, and accelerate the industrial upgrading. At present, more than 10 countries and regions such as the United Kingdom, the European Union, the United States, South Korea, and Japan have launched carbon footprint labeling systems, and there is no unified carbon footprint labeling system and method in China.
In 2023, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Shenzhen-Hong Kong) will benchmark international standards, formulate a scientific and reasonable certification implementation plan, take the lead in establishing a carbon footprint certification system across the country, and launch the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area carbon footprint certification public service platform on November 30. HKC quickly responded and became one of the first enterprises to apply for carbon footprint identification certification. After nearly a month of data technology review and on-site verification, it won the carbon footprint identification certification on December 28.
